About Lisa
Lisa Pontoppidan plays her upbeat and heartfelt originals with Annie Philips on flute and harmonies.
An evening with Lisa and Annie with lift you up, open your heart, and make you laugh. They play a mixture of toe-tapping, rhythmic songs interspersed with mellow tunes of love and spirit.
Lisa spent summers by the shore, but you won’t mistake her songs for breezy summertime fare. She writes from the depth of the ocean and forest, and with the humor of everyday things. With a unique voice and creative chords, her songs shine with joy and originality.
Lisa began singing at a very young age and sang her made up songs by the sea and at the piano. She started playing guitar at 13, learned folk songs of the ‘60s and ‘70s, and soon began to write her own. Heavily influenced by early Joni Mitchell, her songs have different tunings and made-up chords, with melodies that use her whole range. She has performed in concert halls and coffee houses from Washington State to Massachusetts. She has a degree in Contemporary Improvisation from The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.
