About Lisa

I began singing at a very young age and sang my made up songs by the sea and at the piano. I started playing guitar at 13, learned folk songs of the ‘60s and ‘70s, and soon began to write my own. Heavily influenced by early Joni Mitchell, my songs have different tunings and made-up chords, with melodies that use my whole range.  I have performed in concert halls and coffee houses from Washington State to Massachusetts. I have a degree in Contemporary Improvisation from The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.

About the Album

This album was made possible by generous funds from my partner, Gary Sagario. His death prompted me to live fully and finally do the things that are necessary before I die; especially making an album. I pulled together songs from different parts of my life and sang my heart out on them. I was lucky to find a great recording engineer in Steven Friedman, and an amazing producer and musician in Josh Sitron. He has added many instruments and flourishes to the album. Other talented musicians have also added interest and depth to the songs. These songs speak to my need to live, love and grow in nature, especially by the sea. Much of my musical inspiration has also come from the incomparable Story Stephenson, whose constant support and belief in me have made this journey possible.
